Budi P. Hatees lahir dengan nama Budi P. Hutasuhut di Sipirok, Tapanuli Selatan, Sumatra Utara. Menulis sajak, cerpen, esai,
novel, artikel, dan melakukan penelitian masalah sosial, budaya, dan agama rentang tahun 1980-sekarang. Sajak-sajak terkumpul
dalam antologi tunggal Narasi Sunyi (Panggung Sastra, 1992) dan Perjalanan Sunyi (Panggung Sastra, 1994) dan sejumlah antologi
bersama. Manuskrip dua buku akan terbit, Kumpulan Cerpen Negeri Tanpa Purdah (Penerbit FLP Publishing) dan Dilema Orang Lampung:
Antara Budaya Personal dan Budaya Publik (Penerbit MataKata).
